Trump's tantrum: Today's news for October 12th

Today, I am splitting the news up into separate posts. first, we have the Republican and Libertarian post...

CNN:

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said that he doesn't "want" or "care" about having House Speaker Paul Ryan's support in an interview in which he repeatedly trashed the House speaker, virtually unprompted.

"I don't want his support," Trump told Fox News' Bill O'Reilly about Ryan. "I don't care about his support. What I want to do is I want to win for the people."

His remarks come after the Republican nominee lashed out in a stream of tweets earlier Tuesday, slamming as Ryan effectively cutting him loose and accusing the party leadership of dooming his campaign.
My favorite reply to Trump's comment:

I love the smell of snark in the morning...

Seriously, Trump does make a valid point about Ryan later:
Trump also fired off a list of grievances against Ryan, ranging from "open borders and amnesty" to "bad budgets."

"By the way, very, very bad budgets. Frankly, the only one that (President Barack) Obama negotiates well with is Paul Ryan with the budgets," he said.
Frankly, Ryan's budgets were never as "radical right wing" as the Media likes to scream. He is nowhere near fiscally conservative, and is as much a free spender as any Democrat.

And Ryan wasn't the end of the Trump tantrum:
Trump also criticized Republican Arizona Sen. John McCain -- the 2008 Republican presidential nominee -- who withdrew his endorsement of the Trump over the weekend.

Both Ryan and McCain changed their positions in the wake of Friday's publication of a 2005 tape in which Trump discusses women in a lewd and sexually aggressive manner.
Neither Ryan nor McCain are paragons of conservatism. The fact they are considered leaders of the GOP tells you how far from conservatism the Republicans have strayed.

By the way, Trump is no conservative either. This is like an argument between three Jews about who is the most Christian.

Speaking of party disloyalty...

CNN:
Despite having positioned himself as a critic of US foreign policy in the Middle East, Gary Johnson, the Libertarian Party presidential nominee, said he would likely represent a continuation of President Barack Obama's efforts to contain ISIS.
"I don't want to do anything that takes a step backwards" in our fight against ISIS, the former governor of New Mexico told David Axelrod on "The Axe Files" podcast, produced by the University of Chicago Institute of Politics and CNN.
Allowing that he -- unlike Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump -- has not been privy to national security briefings to better inform his thinking, Johnson suggested he would not break from the President's position. "Not for a second do I want to say that Obama has not been well-thought" on this issue, Johnson said. "But if he has been, if you're saying that he has been, I'm making the pitch that I'm going to be a continuation of that."
Really Gary? Did it occur to you that, as a third party candidate, you need to differentiate yourself from the other candidates. Making yourself more like them defeats the purpose of running as a third party candidate.

One other thing Gary: I lowered your grade on immigration policy from an A+ to a B because of this. I would have made it lower, but I am hoping your statement here is complete B.S. Regardless, you are now below Trump on immigration policy.
