The meaning behind Trump's budget: Today's news for March 16th (part 1)

Fox News:

First, the good news:
[President] Trump's first budget-- which is set to be released on Thursday at 7 a.m. ET-- will reportedly cut 28 percent out of the State Department's funding and about 31 percent from the EPA, which The New York Times reported is arguably the hardest hit.
And now the bad news:
The saved money is expected to cover an anticipated $54 billion increase in Defense Department spending and a small increase to homeland security.
Trump has made his priority clear: More money into the war on Islam, which will also necessitate more money to homeland security.

Speaking of the war on Islam:

Business Insider:
The Pentagon is considering sending an additional 1,000 conventional troops over the next few weeks into Syria, ahead of an upcoming offensive against the ISIS capital of Raqqa.
President Eisenhower started Vietnam with 900 military "advisers", which rose to 16,000 by the time of President Kennedy's assassination.

Then again, this war might be over soon, and we have no real worries.

On the third hand, how are Afghanistan and Iraq working for us?

Afghanistan:

The Intercept:
Yet last month...Gen. John Nicholson, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, appeared before the Senate Armed Services Committee to ask for a “few thousand” more U.S. troops. Last week, his boss, Gen. Joseph Votel, head of U.S. Central Command, echoed Nicholson’s request, telling senators that a new “strategy” for Afghanistan had to “involve additional forces.” And this week, Republican Sens. Lindsey Graham and John McCain, who never met a Muslim-majority nation they did not want to bomb, invade, or occupy, used a Washington Post op-ed to call for — surprise, surprise — “additional U.S. and coalition forces” in Afghanistan, including “special operations forces and close air support.”
Iraq:

Global Research:
Five thousand US troops are back in Iraq to bolster the shattered nation’s puppet regime that is propped up by American bayonets. New Iraqi military formations have been formed, totally equipped with modern US M1 Abrams tanks, Humvees, and fleets of trucks. More US forces are on the way.

These US-financed Iraqi units are euphemistically called ‘anti-terrorism forces’ and are supervised by US officers. In fact, what we see is the old British Imperial Raj formula of white officers commanding native mercenary troops.
America, you get the bear:
