Save the Republican Party? Why? Part 2

My buddy Sam emailed me and asked:
You made the subject statement on your blog post, "Save the Republican Party? Why?".  Please give me your realistic reason for this statement.
As I stated in my post:
The ugly truth...is the Republican Party is teetering on the edge of death anyhow. Voting for Clinton is only revealing how close the Republican elitists already are to the Democrats. The only true opposition to the Democrats is the Libertarian Party. If we must be a two party country (and I would prefer four parties), then let it be the Libertarians who survive, not the empty-suited Republicans.
In other words, to me, the fascism of the Republicans is far too close to the socialism of the Democrats. Both are about more power to the central government. In a country founded on the principal of liberty, how can anyone reasonably espouse a system which gives away our freedoms to government control?

If you still think the Republicans represent something opposite to the Democrats, consider the Bush years, when the Republicans increased government spending like a bunch of...Democrats. And before you say "the Republicans spent on different things", what about their Medicare drug plan? Healthcare spending is a rather "Democratic" priority? Note the Medicare drug plan was passed on bipartisan lines.

Add to that how the Democrats have become war hawks (Obama has expanded our wars to 6 countries instead of 2).

Now explain the difference between the two parties again? What good is a two-party system where both parties are essentially for the same thing?
