Ahmadinejad returns! Today's News August 9, 2016

Remember former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad? He is back in the news today:

Fox News:
Iran's former hard-line President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sent a letter on Monday to President Barack Obama, asking him to "quickly fix" a U.S. Supreme Court ruling allowing families of people killed in attacks linked to Iran to collect damages from some $2 billion in frozen assets.
While writing that his letter "is by no means of (a) political nature," Ahmadinejad's message to Obama arrives amid swirling speculation that the hard-line politician may run as a candidate in Iran's presidential election next year.
His motive is pretty clear.

As for "why ask Obama to overrule the Supreme Court?", at least he understands how the U.S. works in the Age of Obama.

In Donald Trump news today...

CNN:
Susan Collins, a Republican who's been in the Senate since 1997, said she is not going to vote for Donald Trump as president, finding him unsuitable for office "based on his disregard for the precept of treating others with respect, an idea that should transcend politics."
Since when has politics ever been about treating anyone with respect? The only people who get treated with respect are campaign donors.

But I digress...
"I will not be voting for Donald Trump for president," she wrote in a Washington Post op-ed published Monday night. "This is not a decision I make lightly, for I am a lifelong Republican. But Donald Trump does not reflect historical Republican values nor the inclusive approach to governing that is critical to healing the divisions in our country."
"Lifelong RINO" is a better description of Collins. Heck, she "does not reflect historical Republican values". To be honest, if she was a Democrat, nobody would notice her. The article describes her accurately: "the moderate Mainer known for working across the aisle".

Mind you, I am not slamming her in defense of Trump. Nearly any GOP legislator saying they weren't voting for Trump would carry more meaning than Collins, who never met a breeze of political winds that didn't sweep her off her feet.
