Happy Hyperbole Day! Today's news for August 11, 2016

Of course, every day is Hyperbole Day during a presidential election...

Fox News:
Donald Trump charged President Barack Obama on Wednesday with being the founder of the Islamic State during a campaign rally in Florida.

"In many respects, you know, they honor President Obama," Trump said during a campaign stop in Fort Lauderdale. "He is the founder of ISIS."

Last week, his campaign tried to draw financial links between the Clinton Foundation and the terror group. Wednesday, he called Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton the group's “co-founder.”

Trump has long accused Obama and Clinton for pursuing Middle East policies that created a power vacuum in Iraq that was exploited by Islamic State. He had criticized Obama for announcing he would yank U.S. troops out of Iraq, which Obama critics believe created the instability in which extremist groups thrive.
This is a case where Trump is right and wrong.

Obama has continued former President Bush's neoconservative policies of interfering in Islamic nations, which has helped radical terrorist groups to recruit. ISIS is just one of the beneficiaries of Obama's boneheaded foreign military adventures.

The only thing Obama did right WAS to pull out of Iraq, except he didn't pull out completely. Just enough to allow ISIS to form.

So in a metaphorical sense, Obama is a co-founder of ISIS.

That said, Trump will be joining Obama if he tries to ramp up the war in the Middle East and Asia.

Speaking of Trump...

CNN:

This is CNN's lede? Practically an ad for one of Hillary's policy positions? Oh well...
Donald Trump's persistent -- and false -- accusation that Hillary Clinton would abolish the Second Amendment as president is renewing scrutiny of her position on gun rights.

In the 2016 campaign, Clinton has fought for a raft of gun reforms. But she hasn't always been as strident an advocate for gun control.

In the 1990s, she was a fierce supporter for the landmark Brady Bill restrictions. But in the 2000s, she didn't push the issue, and even slammed then-Sen. Barack Obama's criticism of people who "cling to guns or religion" in the 2008 presidential primary. And now, after a rash of mass shootings, she's the Democratic standard-bearer on a renewed gun control push.
Is everyone on the Left so dense they can't recognize hyperbole when they see it? It isn't like there has never been hyperbole in a presidential campaign before...

Trump's point, which is still valid, is that Clinton would create laws which go against the intent of the 2nd Amendment. And much to the Left's dismay, the purpose of the 2nd Amendment is not so people can buy assault rifles to hunt bears, but rather so they can buy them to protect themselves against a power overreach by the Left's beloved government.

The article actually proves Trump's point:
As Trump has increasingly focused on the potential that Clinton would appoint justices to the Supreme Court who would strip away gun rights, Clinton has insisted that while she believes in a constitutionally protected right to own a gun, she supports "reasonable" restrictions on those rights.

"I think what the court said about there being an individual right is in line with constitutional thinking," Clinton said about two weeks ago on "Fox News Sunday," affirming individual gun rights.

"I'm not looking to repeal the Second Amendment. I'm not looking to take people's guns away," she said. "But I am looking for more support for the reasonable efforts that need to be undertaken to keep guns out of the wrong hands."
The "wrong hands" being anyone outside of her beloved government.

Speaking of CNN...

Bizpac Review:
Things got real personal Tuesday night between CNN’s Don Lemon and former Secret Service agent Dan Bongino while discussing Donald Trump’s much maligned comment on Second Amendment supporters possibly stopping rival Hillary Clinton.
Run the tape...

Listening to Don Lemon, my mind seems to get stuck on a phrase: "useful idiot".
