You have the right to...something something

Some days you look at the news, and just want to climb back into bed. Here are the lowlights today:

Yahoo News: Worried IMF cuts world growth forecast, warns over Brexit

The International Monetary Fund said Tuesday that the global economy faces wide-ranging threats from weak growth and rising protectionism, warning of possible "severe" damage should Britain quit the European Union.
The Fund cut its global forecast for the third straight quarter, saying economic activity has been "too slow for too long," and stressed the need for immediate action by the world's economic powers to shore up growth.
It said intensifying financial and political risks around the world, from volatile financial markets to the Syria conflict to global warming, had left the economy "increasingly fragile" and vulnerable to recession.
Part of the problem could be the following story:

Washington Free Beacon: Government Collects Record-High Taxes in First Half of FY 2016

$1,480,000,000,000.00. That's $1.48 TRILLION. All nicely hoovered up by the U.S. government from October through March. Keep in mind, that is money that won't be used by "WE THE PEOPLE". That money goes to our elite overlords, so they can do what they, in their glorious wisdom, decide to do.

Like the following:

Marketwatch: Obama is forgiving the student loans of nearly 400,000 people

The Department of Education will send letters to 387,000 people they’ve identified as being eligible for a total and permanent disability discharge, a designation that allows federal student loan borrowers who can’t work because of a disability to have their loans forgiven. The borrowers identified by the Department won’t have to go through the typical application process for receiving a disability discharge, which requires sending in documented proof of their disability. Instead, the borrower will simply have to sign and return the completed application enclosed in the letter.
If every borrower identified by the Department decides to have his or her debt forgiven, the government will end up discharging more than $7.7 billion in debt, according to the Department.

“Americans with disabilities have a right to student loan relief,” Ted Mitchell, the undersecretary of education, said in a statement. “And we need to make it easier, not harder, for them to receive the benefits they are due.”
Did they pass a new Constitutional Amendment while I was asleep? The wording must go like this: "Americans with disabilities have a right to student loan relief, and the federal government must make every effort to find them and discharge their student loans."

To call it a "right", it must be in the Constitution somewhere. Right?

And it's only money, right?

On the other hand...

Eligible borrowers who do decide to take advantage of the discharge option should be aware that the forgiven debt may be considered taxable income. The Obama administration asked Congress in its 2017 budget proposal to get rid of the tax penalties for disability discharges, but meanwhile borrowers may find themselves paying taxes on the forgiven loans.
The government giveth, and the government taketh away.

Government should come with a Miranda warning: "You have no right to your money. Any money you have can and will be taken to help other, more important political constituents. You have the right to an attorney, who will then have the right to any of your money not taken by the aforementioned government."

On the bright side, speech is still free, right?

Maybe not...

Daily Caller: Gov’t Prosecutors Likely To Target More Groups Skeptical Of Global Warming

A libertarian think tank was served with a subpoena by U.S. Virgin Islands prosecutors as part of a racketeering probe not long after Democratic attorneys general promised to investigate groups with ties to the oil industry for allegedly misleading the public on global warming.
More subpoenas are likely on the way as attorneys general step up their efforts to go after groups skeptical of global warming and opposed to sweeping federal regulations. One legal expert expects other attorneys general to target groups, mostly conservative-leaning, skeptical of global warming.
In summary, you have the right to keep ONLY what we can't get out of you. And don't you dare tell us otherwise!
