Hawaiian Dirty Tricks

Another nugget from USAToday:

A senior aide to Marco Rubio is accusing Ted Cruz's campaign of using “disgusting tactics” to trick voters into thinking that the Rubio campaign is flailing.
Rubio’s camp has emphatically denied a CNN report Monday that some of his advisers have discussed whether he should drop out before the all-important primary next Tuesday in his home state of Florida.
This is where it gets ridiculous:

A spokeswoman for Cruz said Tuesday that the missive was not authorized by his campaign.
"The campaign became aware of the email this morning by press accounts and upon investigation learned that some volunteers in Hawaii were involved in the posting," Cruz spokeswoman Alice Stewart said in a statement. "The individual(s) who sent this had no authority from the campaign to do so."
Translation: Cruz's headquarters didn't authorize it, but their Hawaiian headquarters produced the story.

This begs several questions:

1. Is someone at CNN having a conversation with Jamie Gangel and Tal Kopan? They are the reporters who wrote the story, possibly based on nothing more than a tip from the Cruz campaign. If true, can you say "journalistic malpractice"?

2. Didn't Cruz learn his lesson from Iowa? Never mind, he won Iowa...

By the way, if you see a head rolling down the street in Honolulu, you'll know what happened.
