Trump reveals truth about journalists by lying

Here is the scoop from CNN: "Trump throws tantrum after reporters do their job". The news in that headline isn't as obvious as it might seem. I will give you a clue: It isn't the part about the Trump tantrum.

The story starts:

Donald Trump's press conference tantrum Tuesday -- during which he called one reporter "a sleaze" and lashed out at others for seeking verification of a $1 million charitable gift he claimed to have made to veterans organizations -- is the inevitable result of months of fact-twisting, distortions and outright falsehoods uttered by the candidate on a daily basis.
Nothing to see here. Move along...

The truth of the matter is that reporters have very good reasons to take Trump's claims with a grain of salt -- and to ignore the name-calling, mockery and insults he uses to try and distract journalists from double-checking nearly everything he says.
We are getting warmer! Maybe if Trump were a Democrat (which many secretly suspect he is), the Media might pay him less attention? You know, like they do for Obama, Clinton, or anyone with a "D" after their name...

Trump routinely and repeatedly says many, many things that are simply untrue. Not only were members of the press justified in skeptically asking Trump to prove he made the donations he'd boasted about, they -- we -- are especially required to verify any of the candidate's assertions, because they so often turn out to be at odds with the facts.
The same could be said of most Democrats, who rarely get the vetting Trump is getting.

Cynics might say that Trump's no different from other candidates, and that all politicians tell lies. That may be.
"That may be"? We literally changed how our ENTIRE country pays for healthcare based on a lie from Barack Obama. Have you given that lie half the coverage you have given Donald Trump daily for the past 6 months?

Here is the heart of the matter: Journalists have lost their credibility, because they only give us half the story, when they give it to us at all. So when people hear journalists harping about one of Trump's lies, even if the journalist is right, the average citizen is less likely to believe them. Call it "National Enquirer syndrome": It took decades of lies and half-truths to thoroughly discredit the National Enquirer as a news source. The exact same thing is happening to CNN, the New York Times, Fox News, and every other Media news source.

I know Trump is a lying sleezeball. Sadly, the same can be said about most of the Media types reporting on him.

Don't believe me? Looking over CNN's front page, here are some of the stories:

Poll: 2 points separate Trump, Clinton
Opinion: Trump throws tantrum
Ex-employees on Trump U: 'A total lie'
Inside the Trump University 'playbooks'
Over at Fox News:

HOPELESSLY DEVOTED? Poll: Majority of Dems want Hillary even if indicted
INSIDE 'TRUMP U.': 'Playbooks' told seminar workers to sell 'feelings'
COVERING HIS TRACKS? Trump donated to veterans' groups on day of critical Washington Post story
MEDIA BUZZ: Why Trump is again ripping the 'sleaze' press
VIDEO: Why Clinton needs more momentum
Note the first story at Fox actually has a picture of Hillary, and is clearly carrying the negative hype against her. But at least Fox seems to be covering the other stories, while CNN completely ignores anything negative about Hillary. This is the Media game, and everyone knows they are playing it.

But this is also how Trump gets away with his lies: The people reporting on it are also the ones who have been lying about Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama and every Democrat going back for decades. So when Trump does crap like this:

"The press should be ashamed of itself," Trump said at his press conference. "You make me look bad."
People hear that and think the press is up to their usual tricks. Call it a right-wing dog whistle.

Here is a suggestion to "journalists": Cover everyone with the cynicism they deserve, and not the cynicism you THINK they deserve. If you cannot do that, then put a disclaimer before everything you write. There is no individual or issue above reproach, and that includes journalists.
