Should Texas Secede?

Here is a different approach from Texas secessionists, from Mother Jones:

On Wednesday, the Platform Committee of the Texas Republican Party voted to put a Texas independence resolution up for a vote at this week's GOP convention, according to a press release from the pro-secession Texas Nationalist Movement. The resolution calls for allowing voters to decide whether the Lone Star State should become an independent nation.
Personally, I am in favor of allowing states to secede. As long as they do so peacefully, it should be allowed. If we don't allow it, then we are admitting the concept of a state is irrelevant, and only the federal government matters.

Before you say, "So?", we have one problem with the federal government. In case you hadn't noticed during the last economic downturn, Washington and the surrounding areas cruised right along with no noticeable economic impact. That's because money flows into Washington, but doesn't flow out at the same rate. You have to pay the middle man.

In a country of 300 million people, that's a lot of money flowing into Washington, and we have to fight against 300 million other people for our share of that pie. As a resident of Georgia, that has always been a losing proposition for us.

On the other hand, I live in the Savannah area of Georgia. We have to fight for our share of the state budget against Atlanta. That is also a losing battle.

However, Georgia only has 10 million residents. That is an easier, albeit not easy, battle. But at least Georgia is more fiscally conservative than the federal government. With the feds, we have to battle every socialist ideal proposed by the Democrats, and we frequently lose (no thanks to the spineless Republicans).

So I would favor a secessionist movement in Georgia. In light of that, how could I say no to Texas?
