Weekend Closing Post: Dionne Warwick

For this week's closing post, I decided to honor Dionne Warwick, since the news has broken they are doing a biopic of her.

Dionne's two biggest hits were songs she did with others: "That's What Friends Are For" (with Elton John, Gladys Knight & Stevie Wonder) and "Then Came You" (with The Spinners).

But Dionne's greatest musical collaboration occurred when she performed songs written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Together, they defined a style of pop music in the 1960's that was magic. The 1960's gave birth to or evolved many styles of music, such as British Invasion (The Beetles and the Rolling Stones), R&B (Motown), Folk (Peter, Paul & Mary and the Mamas and the Papas), and Rock (Jimi Hendrix), just to name a few. But what Dionne and Bacharach and David did was just as good, but different in it's own way.

Here is a special video of Dionne Warwick performing their hits with Burt Bacharach on the piano:

Enjoy your weekend folks!
